Lanigan Supports $3 million in ARPA Funds for Rome Health
Rome, NY – Jeffrey Lanigan, Republican candidate for Mayor, recently met with Anne Marie Czyz, President and CEO of Rome Health to learn more about the hospital’s expansion project. This project involves the construction of a new surgical services suite and a proposed ICU unit that will be located on the second floor above the suite’s four operating rooms. New York State and private donors have already fully funded the surgical suite construction, and it is expected to break ground in November 2023. However, Rome Health is seeking $3 million from the City of Rome’s ARPA funds to assist with the construction costs of the addition of a new 9-bed ICU unit, which is expected to add 6.6 million to the total project cost. Rome Health has said that they are confident they will be able to raise the remaining 3.6 million in required funding.
Following the meeting with Czyz, and after speaking with Rome residents, hospital employees, and members from the Rome Health Foundation, Lanigan said today, “Rome Health has a clear vision for a modern and well-equipped ICU that will allow them to attract highly skilled medical professionals and ensure a level of preparedness that can save lives during any disaster or emergency. The ICU project is essential, as it will lead to better patient care, improved treatment outcomes, and a higher level of medical services available to the Rome community. It will also reduce the need for our residents to travel outside of Rome for specialized medical care. I am encouraging the Rome Common Council to approve Rome Health’s funding request for $3 million in ARPA funds to ensure that this vital project moves forward. Our community deserves the highest level of care right here in Rome.”
